A notice of non-payment and a fine will be sent to your firm by US Customs. In addition to your fine, you will also be charged interest on the duty owed until US Customs receives full payment of your duty. Your importer status will be placed on a sanction list by US Customs, and you will have to pay all future duties via certified check. US Customs will eventually seek payment from the Surety Company that issued your bond. The Surety Company will use all means necessary to collect all fees and interest incurred by the importer.
