ACI eHBL 172 – What is the difference between a Primary Cargo Control Number and a Housebill Cargo Control Number?

Primary CCN is the carrier’s CCN, also known as the Master Bill Number is a bill of lading number issued by the carrier and always begins with Carrier’s carrier code. 

Ocean Carrier – 9000 series

Airline Carrier – IATA CODE


The eHBL must be transmitted referencing the Primary CCN.

Housebill CCN is the housebill number issued by the freight forwarder for a particular shipment, it always begin with the freight forwarder’s carrier code (8000 series).
