What is ISF and how do you ensure compliance?

Advance cargo information, in the form of an Importer Security Filing (ISF) or ’10+2,’ is required by U.S. CBP for ocean vessel imports. This filing is specific to ocean shipments and does not apply to cargo entering the U.S. through other channels.

Importers are required to provide 10 NEW data elements to CBP and two other data sets from the carrier of cargo (shipping line). The ISF must be filed with CBP at least 24 hours before the cargo is loaded onto a vessel bound for the USA.
