To declare Instruments of International Trade (IITs) for reporting on an ACI eManifest, the carrier must set the IIT quantity on the truck or trailer where the IITs are loaded. The carrier then needs to transmit the ACI eManifest with only the trip portion, as IITs are the only things being transported. The driver must also verbally report the IITs to the officer at the border and may be asked to provide the file number covering the IITs, which should be available from the importer if the goods are eligible for declaration as IIT.
