The processing of an IID by CBSA can be done up to 90 days before the goods arrive at the FPOA in Canada. However, an IID will be cancelled automatically in two situations: firstly, if the IID is 90 days old and has no associated cargo, and secondly, if there is an associated cargo document that remains either unreported or has not arrived. In simpler terms, if an IID remains unchanged for 90 days and there are no cargo documents linked to it that have been reported or arrived, it will be automatically cancelled.
