ACI eHBL 025 – Let’s say we know all ocean carrier’s CCN is formatted as 9000# + Booking number. Otherwise, do we have to rely on our overseas branches to obtain the number within the required timeframe, which sometimes could be very challenging?

The allocation of a CCN to a trade document is at the discretion of the company allocating the number. There is no fixed structure, as long as the number is unique, has not been used in the past four years, and consists of no more than 25 characters, a client can select any number in any way they choose. It is the responsibility of the trade to make sure they have all the necessary information before they transmit it to the CBSA.
