CBP’s Automated Manifest System (AMS) combines notification systems for cargo releases and regulations for imported goods inventories. The Automated Commercial System (ACS) is made up of multiple components that ease the clearance and movement of goods, including the In-Bond Control Program, the Cargo Selectivity System, and the Automated Broker Interface. As a result of the Automated Manifest System, shipping documentation is easier to file before cargo arrives in the US, thus facilitating shipment flow. By eliminating in-bond documents and paper manifests, Customs and carriers reduce paperwork. With AMS, participants gain more control, better communication, and shorter cargo holding times.
