For tugs, barges, and cargo, ACI requires the same voyage number to be transmitted in the relevant fields on all reports. In the following scenarios:
- A tug pulling one or more barges with cargo: Reports must be submitted for the cargo on each barge, referencing the relevant Conveyance Reference Number.
- A tug pulling one or more barges without cargo: If the tug is pulling barges without any cargo, there is no need to submit ACI cargo reports.
- A tug carrying goods not on a barge: Reports must be submitted for the cargo, referencing the tug’s Conveyance Reference Number.
- An empty (in ballast) tug not pulling barges: ACI cargo reporting is not required in this case.
