The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)’s Advanced Commercial Information (ACI) systems are mandatory platforms for reporting imports and exports. Both U.S. and Canadian Customs rely on these systems to assess goods’ admissibility.
For highway carriers crossing into the U.S. and Canada, electronic reporting of cargo and conveyance data is mandatory. This must be completed and submitted to both countries’ Customs one hour prior to the shipment’s arrival at the respective borders.
The ACE In-bond allows imported goods to enter a U.S. port without immediate duty payment. Instead, a bonded carrier transports them to another U.S. port for further entry or export. Bonded highway carriers involved in this process must also electronically report the arrival and export of shipments to CBP.
File and submit ACE/ACI Highway eManifest and In-Bond for bonded shipments via CrimsonLogic’s software platform at least one hour prior to arrival at the border.
CrimsonLogic or your customs broker will file customs declaration.
Arrive at the border once the eManifest and In-Bond is approved.
Present ACE or ACI coversheet for eManifest and In-bond information to be retrieved.
After verification, the CBP or CBSA Officer will either release the truck or refer it for secondary processing.
