The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the cornerstone of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) trade processing, which is vital for risk management and cargo control as goods enter the U.S.. Highway carriers must file an ACE eManifest electronically, at least one hour before border arrival, to comply with CBP regulations.
This system not only streamlines cargo data management but also mitigates delays and penalties, ensuring smoother and faster clearance at the border, thus benefiting businesses by enhancing operational efficiencies and adherence to U.S. import regulations.
File and submit the ACE Highway eManifest via CrimsonLogic’s platform at least one hour prior to arrival at the border.
Any in-bond shipments must also be manifested in the truck’s eManifest submission.
CrimsonLogic or your customs broker will file customs declaration.
Arrive at the border at least one hour after the eManifest is approved.
Present the ACI coversheet to retrieve the eManifest information.

ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) is the U.S. electronic Single Window customs management software for all trade processing, including all Manifest, Cargo Release, Post-release, Export and Partner Government Agency (PGA) data. It requires the electronic transmission of detailed shipment data, including cargo descriptions, carrier information, and conveyance details, at least one hour prior to arrival at the border. ACE Highway eManifest enhances border security, facilitates efficient customs clearance, and ensures compliance with U.S. import regulations.
Since 2015, the ACE Highway eManifest requirement mandates that highway carriers transmit electronic cargo and conveyance data to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) via the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) before their shipment arrives in the U.S.
The carrier bears responsibility for filing the ACE Highway eManifest and may opt to use a service provider to make the declaration.
You will need a SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) issued by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

While it’s not mandatory to submit an ACE Highway Manifest for empty crossings, it’s worth noting that certain ports are now enforcing the requirement for carriers to process an ACE for empty loads. Submitting an ACE Highway eManifest, even for empty crossings, is highly recommended. This proactive approach helps ensure compliance with customs regulations and contributes to a smoother border-crossing process.
