From July 5th, 2021, freight forwarders may be subject to monetary AMPS penalties for non-compliance with electronic house bills, close messages, and supplementary reports. Mandatory requirements for electronic house bills apply to bonded and non-bonded freight forwarders responsible for consolidated imports and shipments transiting through Canada. The CBSA provides a list of AMPS penalties that may be issued to freight forwarders for non-compliance. The CBSA strongly encourages clients to register for electronic notices and contact the Technical Commercial Client Unit for support. Clients may also refer to the Electronic Commerce Client Requirements Document for details on new electronic house bill and arrival system rules.
