A Returned American Product Shipment, known as CBP Form 3311, is a common US shipment type and an Informal Entry that allows for US products to be shipped back to the states and released at the border.
To qualify as a Returned American Product Shipment, goods must either have been rejected by a foreign buyer or returned to the United States for credit, must not have been subject to Customs drawback or an exemption from internal revenue tax when exported, or otherwise be subject to duties.
It is important that the carrier asks the importer or the importer’s customs broker for advice on whether the shipment type should be Returned American Products.
