Risk Assessment Notices are issued by the CBSA when more information is needed about the house bill or when specific instructions are required for loading/unloading the cargo. These notices include a coded field that identifies the reason for the notice and the data element that needs clarification or explanation. They may also include a free text remarks field for additional information or instructions. The CBSA may also send ‘Hold’ and/or “Cancellation” coded messages to the sender and relevant parties via the same electronic means as the incoming transmission. It is the freight forwarder’s responsibility to check their system for these coded messages.
