According to Customs Notice 21-15 from the CBSA, starting July 30th, 2022 monetary AMPs penalties may be issued to non-compliant freight forwarders who fail to provide electronic house bill data on consolidated freight within the specified timeframes for each mode of transport. To transmit carrier codes to the CBSA, complete the ACI EDI Application Form. Only your own carrier code or another client’s carrier code may be used if there is an existing agreement in place. If filing on behalf of another company and using their carrier code, that company must complete the form with you listed as their agent in Section 3. Unauthorized use of another entity’s carrier code may result in AMPs penalties, and it is important to keep contact information registered with the CBSA up-to-date. To update contact information, clients may contact the Commercial Registration Unit at carrier-cargo@cbsa-asfc.gc.ca. Failure to update contact information with the CBSA may result in carrier code suspension or AMPs penalties C389 or C388 if the CBSA is unable to reach the client regarding certain ACI transmissions.
