ACI Ocean 19 – What are the ACI requirements for Tugs and Barges?

ACI requirements may apply to tugs and barges, and the reports must be submitted within the given time frame. The CRN must be included in all reports related to tugs, barges, and cargo in the following scenarios:

  • A tug pulling one or more barges with cargo: cargo reports must be submitted for the cargo on each barge, referencing the corresponding CRN.
  • A tug pulling one or more barges without cargo: if there is no cargo on any of the barges, no ACI cargo reports are required.
  • A tug pulling a mix of barges with and without cargo: cargo reports must be submitted for the cargo on each barge with cargo, referencing the CRN in the appropriate field. No reports are needed for empty barges.
  • Self-propelled barges: cargo reports must be submitted for the cargo, referencing the CRN.
  • A tug carrying goods not on a barge: cargo reports must be submitted for the cargo, referencing the CRN of the tug.
  • An empty tug not pulling barges: no ACI cargo report is required.
