The timeframes for USML shipments and non-USML shipments are different. Depending on the method of transportation, the timeframes vary. For both non-USML and USML shipments, see below.
A 72-hour notice must be filed before exporting used self-propelled vehicles. Under FTR section 30.4b3, shipments between the United States and Puerto Rico are not subject to advanced filing timeframes. For shipments between the United States and Puerto Rico, the carrier must have received proof of filing, post-departure, downtime, exemption, or exclusion citation prior to arriving at the port of unloading.
